As a small child, my idle time was divided between drawing horses and developing a barn full of stick horses. Any tool which had a handle became one of my stable. The broom...the rake...the shovel...they were all given names and ridden on a daily basis until the day I returned them to the garage rack in favor of a real live horse of my own.
From the first moment I laid eyes upon an Arabian horse, I knew that it would be a lifetime love. An Arab stallion had been given as a gift from King Farouk to a man whom I never met, but whose horse was boarded in the paddock next to my little pinto mare. This magnificant "gift horse" allowed me to sneak into his stall and sit upon his naked back for hours, loving my attention while, in turn, teaching me about the gentle nature of this noble breed. When I looked into his huge dark liquid eyes, I felt that I could see his longing for desert sands from whence he came and I envisioned tiny reflections of the great pyramids in his eyes. Later, as an adult I devoted much of my life to breeding and showing Arabians. It was inevitable that I would ultimately combine my love of art as an outlet for expressing my passion for Arabians, so my small pencil and paper sketches evolved to life size oil paintings.
I hope that perhaps my paintings will evoke feelings in the viewer similar to those that were stirred in myself. My goal in these paintings is to capture the spirit and grace of the beloved Arabians I have known and to be able to share that with others.
You may view some of my photography too. These images are primarily digital images, some of which are enhanced through computer editing. Enjoy!
